Virus Closes Hillman Schools

Hillman Community Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday this week due to a district positive COVID-19 test. This was announced on the schools’ Facebook page yesterday evening. Officials started working with the District Health Department No. 4 yesterday. According to the Facebook post more information will be shared after the process. Hillman has now followed several schools around Michigan that have disrupted their classes fearing the coronavirus. According to the alpena news for the past week or so, the Northeast Michigan positive case or probable case numbers have skyrocketed. Public officials are urging people in Northeast Michigan to change their plans for the holidays this year. Superintendents of Alpena, Alcona, and Montmorency counties and officials from District Health Departments No. 2 and No. 4, asked the public to consider small, local holiday celebrations. Masks, good hygiene practices, and social distancing should be required, according to the Alpena News.
