Two more Northeast Michigan residents, one in Presque Isle County and one in Alpena County, died after being infected with the coronavirus. Public health officials said that the number of Northeast Michiganders infected since the pandemic began topped 1,200.
Since the virus hit Michigan in March, at least 25 Northeast Michiganders have died after being infected with COVID-19. That is including 17 Alpena County residents, 3 Presque Isle County residents, 2 Montmorency County residents, and 3 Alcona County residents. Several Alpena County government officials have been infected, one of whom is hospitalized. On top of that, dozens of school staff and students have been infected with COVID-19. Holiday event cancellations are beginning to stack up. The Alcona County Chamber of Commerce just announced the cancellation of the annual Christmas in the Village event in Harrisville. Alpena County also cancelled their annual Christmas parade.
