Scientist Found A New Whale Species

Every whale species has a very distinctive, acoustic underwater signal. However, recently scientists have found a signal that has never been recorded. Scientists were trying to figure out what species of whales were making an undefined acoustic signal off the western coast of Mexico. Last month, three beaked whales were spotted by a group of scientists near San Benito Islands, about 300 miles from the U.S. border. The beaked whale experts had the chance to get photographs, videos, and an underwater recording of the whales acoustic signals that matched the unidentified signals. Researchers Gustavo Cárdenas Hinojosa, Jay Barlow and Elizabeth Henderson stated in a press release that they are “ highly confident” this is a new whale species.
