In China’s northeastern Shandong Province, 22 miners are trapped from a gold mine explosion. This explosion happened last Sunday, damaging the exit of the mine. Rescuers have been in contact with 11 of the workers after dropping a telephone line into their chamber. The conditions of the other 10 workers are unknown. One of the workers suffered from a head injury caused by the explosion; he eventually lapsed into a coma and died. Mining accidents are quite common in China because they have poor industry regulations. Rescuers are still trying to clear debris to help get the workers out of the mine.
