Alpena Wildcats Going to Playoffs!

Alpena Wildcats Going to Playoffs!

Ashlynn Brown, Reporter

For the first time in 16 years, the Alpena High Wildcats football team is going to play in a postseason game in Midland. The Wildcats have had a 16th straight losing season, but despite that, they are going to a playoff game tonight against the Chemics. Alpena finished their regular season with an 0-6; however, they have been given the opportunity to compete in playoff game due to their shortened season and the postseason rules that have been established by the Michigan High School Athletics Association.

The Wildcats will enter the playoffs as the No. 8 seed and will be competing against the district’s top seed in Midland. Alpena has made major improvements within the football team in the final two weeks of the season, although the offensive struggles could be a cause for disaster as the Wildcats play against an undefeated Midland team tonight. The Midland team has scored at least 30 points in all six games during their season, and they’ve scored 40 or more in all games but one. The Chemics are a strong team, but the Wildcats are the perfect match to compete with.
