For the 2016 Alpena Wildcat football season, the varsity team went 2-7. Meaning they had two wins and seven loses.

The team had a new head football coach for this year, Mr. Sims, who came from a total different school. This is the second new varsity head coach the team has had in two years. The old coach was Brad Moughon, but he chose to leave and go to Texas. They started the season on a high note by holding a two game win streak. They defeated the Sault by a score of 33 to 20. The following week they defeated Ogemaw Heights by a score of 48 to 12.

The weeks after that were tough losses, caused by a number of things that weren’t in the Wildcat’s corner. They ended the season with a record of 2 wins and 7 loses. There is still time for them improve and everyone is hopeful for the 2017 season.
