X Country

For the first time in the history of Alpena High School, the boy’s cross country team won the regional championship. No other boy’s team of Alpena High School has qualified for the state competition since 1999.

The team that won was the Varsity team for the school. The team had seven people on it, which included Mitchell Day, Sam Tuscher, Avery Burrone, Clay Donajkowski, Isaac Cross, Aden Smith, and Josh Smith. The team managed to win and beat Bay City Western, following close behind with only a three point deficit. Grand Blanc finished third in the competition with 80 points. They beat Saginaw Heritage by three points as well. All four teams were separated by 10 points.

Cross country involves different teams running and competing for the best times. There are different divisions and events for people to run in to compete for.
