A Big Home Football Game

Kelley Stark

Football is always a big deal at Alpena Highschool, but this week however could be an even bigger deal for the Alpena Wildcats, as they will face a tough ST.Johns football program at home on Friday at 7pm. If the Wildcats are able to win the game they will be able to keep their playoff push rolling. Just like they alive been doing all season long, it now just comes down to one game.

Friday’s are a big deal for the community of Alpena, especially in the fall because Football is in session. But this week isn’t a normal week for the Wildcat football team, as they will face a very well coached ST.Johns football program on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game with a winning record, with St.Johns at 5-4, and the Wildcats at 4-4. Both teams will be playing for a playoff spot. If the Wildcats are able to take care of the ST.Johns Redwings, then Alpena will advance to the state playoffs for the first time since 2004. It will also be senior night for the Wildcats which will draw a large crowd. The whole town and community is expected to be present at this game because it is considered the biggest Alpena football game in school history. So come on out and support the Wildcats, as they will try to defeat the ST.Johns Redwings.
