Last Friday at Alpena Highschool, the Alpena Wildcat Football team faced the St.Johns Redwings. It was a very important game for the Wildcats, as their playoff hopes were on the line. If the Wildcats were able to pull off the victory it would have sent them to the state playoffs for the first time since 2004.
It was a very cold night for football as the Alpena Wildcat football team faced a very talented St.Johns football program last Friday at Alpena Highschool. Everything was planned out right for the Wildcats as they kept with the St.Johns Redwings the whole game. Then the Wildcats were tied with St.Johns 14-14, which then sent the contest into overtime. The Redwings had no trouble scoring, as they scored a touchdown on the second play from scrimmage. It was then the Wildcats turn to score as they scored a touchdown on 4th down. Alpena Head coach Eric Mitchell then decided to go for the two point conversion to win the game, but the Wildcats came up short which gave them the loss 21-20.
