Jeffrey Hanthorn, class of 1974, was inducted into the Alpena High School Alumni Hall of Fame and was a businessman.
Hanthorn was in the top 10 of his Alpena High School class when he graduated in 1974. He moved on to Alpena Community College, then to the University of Michigan where he earned a bachelor’s degree and then a master’s in architecture at the same college. In 1980 he joined the Eli Lilly pharmaceutical firm as facilities engineer. And after that he served 12 years of distinguished service rose to Corporate Director of Human Resources for that worldwide corporation. His impressive career there set the stage for his next round of accomplishments later in his life. In 2000 Mr. Hanthorn left Eli Lilly pharmaceutical firm to join a professional services firm. With partners, Hanthorn soon formed two new companies in Indianapolis. In 2004 he became executive officer of a startup medical device company that sold for $240 million.
