Darrell (Milligan) Kelly, Class of 1974, was inducted into the Alpena High School Alumni Hall of Fame in 2009 and is currently head of the 1.077 The Bay and involved in multiple projects surrounding his community.
Darrell Milligan took what he learned from Alpena High and made a name for himself in his home community of Alpena. He is best known as “Darrell Kelly” which is his radio name. He has been on the air for thirty-five years and still going strong.
He is equipped with an Alpena High school diploma, and a 2-year electronics degree from the Cleveland Institute of Electronics. Eventually he rose to the post of general manager of True North Radio Network.
He is active in the Brown Trout Festival and a former president of the event. He has been a leader in raising funds for the Kerwin Kitzman Foundation and an active member of the Elks Club and fundraiser in annual Alpena MD telethons. A local celebrity as a d.j. On 1.077 The Bay for Alpena, Rogers City, and Oscoda, and announcer for Alpena football and basketball games, he has also been a driving force in the local Junior Miss program, serving for years as director and for a time as State chairman.
He has been honored by the Alpena JayCees for his dedicated service to that program and all it has done for young women.
